Study says that environment influences a dog’s personality more than genetics.

A new study published in Science last week has dispelled a common misconception about canines.

A new study, published last week in the journal “Science” is putting a popular misconception about canines to rest. It states that a dog’s personality is not necessarily defined by what type of breed it is. Researchers at the University of Massachusetts asked 18,000 000 owners to complete personality assessments about their dogs. The researchers then took DNA samples of more than 21,000 different pups to determine their genetic makeup. They say their behavior is shaped by a dog’s environment and their life experiences more often than by their genetics.
