Hot Farm is a series of four episodes that the Food & Environment Reporting Network presents. It tells the stories from farmers who are trying new ways to conserve water, use less chemicals, protect their soil, and use renewable energies. It examines the long-standing efforts to develop new perennial crops that can withstand climate change, as well the strategies to get farmers to grow these crops. We also get a look at the future of American agriculture: As California heats and dries up, people are asking whether other regions can fill the gap. Part 1 to be released April 12.
