THECity of Surrey and Sri Guru Singh Sabha Gurdwara planted 250 native trees at Maple Green Park as part of World Sikh Environment Day.
Surrey Mayor Doug McCallum said that this tree planting event is a sign of Surrey’s ongoing commitment in engaging residents in improving nature in the city. I want to thank Sri Guru Singh Sabha Gurdwara, who partnered with the City for this green initiative. Consider planting trees as we move into spring to help the urban forest grow and increase tree canopy coverage throughout the City of Surrey.
The popular Tree Sale in Surrey, which was launched March 2nd, is almost sold out. 945 trees have been sold, with 55 trees still available for purchase at $20 each. There are many varieties to choose from:

The City’s Tree Sale Program is one way it invests in its tree canopy to support its vision of a thriving, green, and inclusive community. Surrey residents can purchase quality trees at a low price and help to grow the urban forest. This sale is one of four planned for 2022. New trees planted on private land improve the environment, provide shade, insulation, and increase property value, making neighbourhoods more livable.
