This pilot phase of the Environmental and social governance pilot program (ESGStatistics Canada used existing data sources to create a dashboard that incorporated a limited number industries. Their presence is widely adopted ESGFrameworks currently being used by businesses and their application to a wide variety of industries. The selected indicators are applicable to most industries. However, they may not address the most important issues in certain industries. Therefore, the dashboard should not be considered a complete or definitive list. Material issues refer to factors that are likely to have an impact on the financial health or operating performance of businesses in a specific industry.
The dashboard is experimental and only a small number of industries are currently available. These industries were selected based on their interest. ESGdata and industry breakdowns for certain datasets used in the production of the indicators. Data may be available for some industries that aren’t currently represented on the dashboard. The dashboard clearly indicates data sources and users are encouraged access these data sources to gain insight into other industries.
