A spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry said Monday that China’s efforts to improve business environment and expand opening-up have resulted in positive results.

When Zhao Lijian was asked about recent surveys on foreign enterprises’ confidence in China’s markets, Zhao Lijian made these remarks during a daily press briefing.

According to the “Business Confidence Survey”, which is released annually by the German Chamber of Commerce China and global audit and consulting firm KPMG, Chinese companies are optimistic about China’s growth.

Zhao noted that the global economic recovery is facing challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He said that China continues its positive energy contribution to the global economy through the steady and sustained growth of its economy.

He stated that China is committed towards building an open world economy, an international business environment based upon market principles and the rule law. This provides a strong guarantee to foreign companies to do business and invest in China.

Zhao pointed out that China’s Doing Business Report 2020, which is published by the World Bank, ranks China 31st worldwide in ease of doing Business rankings. She also noted that China ranked 91st in 2012.

The spokesperson stated that this “demonstrates the remarkable improvement in China’s business climate.”

He stated that China will not stop opening up at a higher degree, sharing development opportunities and making economic globalization more accessible, inclusive, balanced, and benefiting all.

Zhao said that China will be more active in its integration into the global market and strengthen cooperation with other nations. He added that China will work with other partners to build an open economy around the world and give a strong boost to the global economic recovery.
