After more than 150 draft prospect boycotts, the NFL won’t allow draft prospects to be restricted to a “bubble” environment at next month’s scouting combine.

Many draft prospects discussed plans to boycott the annual predraft event in Indianapolis, which will be held from March 1-7 in protest.

A memo to prospects explained plans to restrict participants from combining venues “during their entire stay in Indianapolis for the protection of Covid-19.”

They were only allowed to have one “medical support” person (e.g., a trainer) for the duration of their stay.

Players who break the rules run the risk of being sent home.

Participants were updated by the fact that organizers “continued to evolve our Combine policy” in consultation with experts in health.

“We encourage all players remain within the secure Combine area at all times for your security,” the update stated in part.

“However you wish to leave the secure areas during your free time, you are now allowed to do so at you own risk.”

Multiple participants will also be permitted to enter the secure areas.

Anyone who has access the players at the combine must show proof that they have been vaccinated against the coronavirus.

Masks are also required for medical personnel who perform exams or provide treatment.

Players and guests attending the combine are encouraged to wear face covers, but they are not mandatory.

Last year’s combined was cancelled by the coronavirus. Teams also had to cancel in-person visits.

The combine will be returning to the site this year with key changes, including fewer days on-site, a reduced testing schedule, and single-room accommodations. However, the bubble is no more part of the equation.
