There is no compromise in CPM’s environmental protection policies: Yechuri on SilverLine

Sitaram Yechuri, general secretary of CPM, stated that there would be no compromise on the party’s environment protection policies.

He stated that the State Government would conduct the Environment Impact Assessment for the SilverLine Project of Kerala. The State Government will adopt all necessary procedures, which includes the Environment Impact Assessment.

In Delhi, the CPM general secretary stated that the CPM takes a firm stand on environmental issues. The State Government will respond to various questions regarding the SilverLine project. The government will also solicit public opinion regarding the implementation of the project.

Yechuri released the draft political resolution from the CPM to be considered at the Party Congress, which will be held in Kannur, April. The resolution was prepared at the party central committee meeting last month.

The draft political resolution accused the Central Government of diluting environmental conservation laws. It also sought to establish a national forum consisting of representatives of state governments, political parties, and experts to address the serious climate change issues.
