This Report Shows the Huge Gap Between the Reality of Climate Change and What Americans Think / Digital Information World

Experts in science often have educated opinions, which not everyone will agree with. Climate change is just one example of such disagreements. It is generally a good idea to trust scientists because this is the type of thing that could allow you to rely upon people who have spent their entire lives trying to understand things better. However, some people feel they know better.

After all that has been said, it is important that you note that Nature recently conducted an inquiry of 92 scientists who contributed to the UN’s recent report on climate change. It turned out that 88% believe the world is in some sort of climate crisis. Only 12% disagree. Another thing to note is that a survey of regular Americans reveals a completely different story.

YouGov’s recent surveyOf a thousand randomly chosen Americans, 61% believed that climate change was a threat. A staggering 39% thought it wasn’t that serious. 66% of scientists expect to see some sort of catastrophic effect regarding climate change within their lifetimes, while only 25% of Americans think the same.

Scientists’ opinions on such matters are generally going be reliable, provided that all aspects have been considered and taken into consideration. However, the main problem lies in the fact that Americans either don’t believe them or are not educated enough to realize the implications of what they are trying to say. This could lead to major problems in the long term. The consensus of the general populace will ultimately determine climate policy. It is unlikely that any reasonable steps can be taken if the current trend continues.
