With its STEAM Adventures program, the Tuscaloosa Public Library makes learning about science, technology and engineering an exciting experience.
The weekly program is held every Tuesday and offers educational opportunities to children aged 8-12.
“It is so important to have this activity for kids to supplement what they are learning in school,” said TPL Youth and Community Services Director Kaitlyn Lynch. “We just love having STEAM activities in the library. We feel its important to kids’ learning and a fun activity overall.”
Participants can get their hands dirty doing something exciting, and they can also learn a lot about the technology that’s important now and will be even more important in the future.
Tuesday’s lesson was all about rockets.
“We learned about space and we made these science experiments,” said participant Jungwoo. “We did a contest. I did the experiments, it was fun learning about them.”
The program takes place on Tuesdays between 4 and 5 p.m. during fall and spring school semesters. You don’t need to sign up to participate, just show up and be prepared to learn.
