The University of Alabamas Environmental Council will hold its annual Green Week Feb. 23-26.
The events run Wednesday to Saturday and include a documentary screening, a fundraiser at The Red Shed, recycling drives at Presidential Village and the Student Center Plaza and lectures on current environmental issues provided by the professors and staff members of the University.
Garrett Kennedy, president of the UA Environmental Council, said the objective of this week is to educate the student body on environmental issues.
I am so excited for what the week will bring, Kennedy said. We have a lot of great, well-planned events that should be educational and enjoyable for the campus community.
Kennedy said he is especially excited for an event centered around conversations about conservation with UA experts.
We have a lot of great professors and graduate students coming to speak, he said. In the past, undergraduate students have been excited to engage with professors, and some have even secured research positions at this event. I hope all of our events will be well-attended.
Green Week has existed for over 30 years, and Kennedy said he is excited to continue the tradition.
The full list of events, times and locations pertaining to this week can be found on the UA Environmental Council Instagram.
