The fifth session of United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA), which began Monday in Nairobi, Kenya, was addressed by Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yodav. He stated that India will play a significant role in the UNEA and stressed the government’s commitment to ban single-use plastics in India. The Assembly began Monday and will continue until March 2, with the theme “Strengthening actions for nature to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals”.
Yadav stated to ANI that India would play a major role at the Fifth session United Nations Environment Assembly. It will be held Nairobi, Kenya. According to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s instructions, the Environment Ministry issued a notification to prohibit single-use plastics. A resolution will be adopted. The Minister stated that the Assembly is a process of raising awareness among people about the environment.
