University of Nottingham Ningbo China’s Chemical and Environmental Engineering Programmes Lead the Way for Future Careers in Sustainable Development

NINGBO, China–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC)s School of Chemical and Environmental Engineering has received multiple international accreditations, including by the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IoM3) and the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE). The School has a number of highly qualified teaching fellows and is regularly praised by its international student body.

Recent years have seen parents and students increasingly appreciate courses in chemistry and environment studies. The importance of these disciplines is also being recognized around the world. Many of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals proposed in the United Nations are closely related to the environment.

Professor Tao Wu is the Dean of UNNC Science and Engineering Faculty. He believes that both UNNC Chemical Engineering and UNNC Environmental Engineering have great potential. “High-end chips require not only chip design and manufacturing talent, but also experts on materials and chemistry.

The School has experienced teaching associates. The School’s small class size of 1:8 allows lecturers to assist students in scientific research, using cutting-edge equipment, and supporting them to innovate and create. Lecturers are available to assist students in summer research supervision and guidance during their summer vacations.

Yiyang Liu, an UNNC alumnus, stated that carbon neutrality and the transformations of energy and manufacturing are crucial to the future development in our country and around the world. Yiyang was offered jobs by more than 30 companies, but she chose to continue her studies at a top ten international university in the UK.

A degree certificate with international accreditation significantly increases students’ competitiveness in further education and employment. UNNC’s graduates have previously worked at the UNEP office in Beijing, Morgan Stanley China and ExxonMobil. They also have experience working in environmental protection departments at all levels of government. According to the employability report, more that 85% of Class 2020 students were admitted to top 50 universities around the world.
