Utility companies and environmentalists are locked in a heated battle over solar power

With the focus on energy independence and the conflict in Ukraine, more people are looking into alternative energy.

Homeowners who are early adopters of solar roofing panels might not be the only ones heating it up. The sun is also a factor.

An environmental advocacy group aims to educate the public about how to get rid of current laws. Utility companies are hoping to strengthen them.

The panels have helped them save a lot of cash, they stated. Their monthly bills were about $100 before the panels, but now they are $40 per month.

Environmental groups in Michigan, such as the Michigan Environmental Council, want to educate consumers about alternative energy. The groups are also pushing to lower the cap so that anyone who has the ability to go solar will be paid when there is more power available to be added to the energy pool.
