VMware : Dynamic Environment Manager and OneDrive for Business Integration – Ron’s Cool Feature of the Week

Pim van der Vis spoke to me about the new Dynamic Environment Manager feature, which allows DEM user configurations in Microsoft OneDrive instead of a Windows share.

You can access user settings from virtual and physical locations, on-prem or in the cloud by leveraging your existing OneDrive for Business subscriptions.

Organizations are also beginning to use this feature. Modern managementWindows 10 machines being used for remote work (and therefore will not have access shares unless connected via VPN).

DEM stores and allows more user environment configurations, and customizations, than just profile storage. However, this feature is great to address profile storage in hybrid VDI environments, and Windows 10 corporate devices that can be deployed to remote employees.

For more information, please visit the Dynamic Environment Manager product Page, and (more important) the Documentation DEM Tech Zone content.

In the Ron’s Cool Feature video seriesI meet with VMware Product Managers and Engineers. Some of these features may be new and exciting, while others may be more mundane but still have the potential to impact every admin who deals with our technology every day.
