MIAMI (WSVN – Volunteers from all over South Florida took to the streets this weekend to help those in need. They gave food and helped the environment in celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service.
7News cameras captured volunteers working hard on Saturday cleaning up Pelican island.
I am doing some planting. Joyce King, a volunteer at The Mission Continues, said that someone donated an old boat that was going to be rehabilitated as a planter.
Israel Montanez, another volunteer for The Mission Continues, stated that he was unsure how the turnout would be given all the happenings with corona and other stuff.
It was amazing to see the sea of blue shirts. King stated that it was amazing how people care.
Let’s try, let’s do it, and it turned out great, said Montanez.
King said, “I was touched and amazed at the number of people who showed up today to help with what we were doing.”
They were acts of service and acts de kindness in memory of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
