The world is falling into a trap, but the major parties would rather end the wars on climate than reduce emissions.

The issue

We are on the verge of a climate disaster. A 1.5-degree temperature increase is inevitable if we don’t stop the rise in emissions by 2025. This is not a policy of either major party.

Why is it a problem?

Labor and the Coalition are trying to “end the climate wars” which have been so politically toxic and led to a stagnant approach to emissions reduction over the past decade.

What the parties have to offer

After months of negotiations and billions of dollars in regional boondoggles, some of which will increase emissions, Scott Morrison’s government finally committed Australia to net zero emissions by the year 2050.
