LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 18, 2022) The 2022 John P. Wyatt M.D. Environment & HealthSymposium on the University of Kentucky’s J. David Rosenberg College of Law Grand Courtroom will be held on April 22, 2022 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The day-long symposium is dedicated to John Wyatt, a pioneer of environmental clinical research. It brings together agencies and universities from across the Commonwealth to address the health effects of climate change.
The panel discussion, “Public Health, Climate-related Disasters and the Commonwealth,” will be held at 10 a.m. with Natasha DeJarnett (assistant faculty of environmental medicine, University of Louisville), and subject specialists Megan Schargarodski and Nicholas Newman (state climatologist and interim Director of the Kentucky Climate Center), Jon Allen (Lee County Emergency Management Director), and Steve Cunanan(CEO, Kentucky region and American Red Cross).
Aubrey K. Miller will present the noon keynote, “Applied Science to Address Climate Change and Disasters: Challenges and Opportunities”.
We are proud to have Dr. Miller as our keynote speaker. Dr. Miller is a great force in advancing the NIHs response to disasters, said Erin Haynes (Kurt W. Deuschle Professor in Preventive Medicine and Environmental Health, and deputy director of theUK Centre for Appalachian research in Environmental Sciences (UK CARES).)
