Two individuals and two organizations were nominated by the government for the National Environment Award-2021 on Thursday for their outstanding contributions to environmental protection in Bangladesh.
The decision was taken in a meeting of the National Committee on ‘National Environment Award-2021’ in the conference room of the environment ministry in Dhaka with environment, forest and climate change affairs minister Shahab Uddin in the chair.
MA Matin from Daudkandi Upazila in Cumilla District has been nominated for the category of Environmental Protection and Pollution Control at both the individual and institutional levels.
Inam Al Haq from Dhaka District was also nominated for this award at the individual level in that category, and Bangladesh Resource Center for Indigenous Knowledge at the institutional level, which is a non-governmental environmental development and research organization.
Each awardee will receive a gold medal and cheque, crest, as well as Tk 50,000.
The medal is usually presented to the PM Sheikh Hasina at the World Environment Day in June.
The meeting was attended among others by Habibun Nahar the deputy minister, secretary Md Mostafa Kamal senior secretary of energy mineral resources Md Mahbub Hossain as well as Md Moniruzzaman the additional secretary.
