A new rule could help keep 41 million tonnes of methane out our environment in the future.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), proposed new rules on Nov. 2 that would dramatically reduce methane emissions. Methane, which is 28 times more potent than carbon dioxide, is one of the most powerful greenhouse gases. Environment America and our national network gathered more than 17,000 supporters to fight for methane regulations that were weakened under the previous administration.
Climate change is the challenge facing our generation. Environmental Americas Washington Legislative Office Executive Direct Lisa Frank said that stricter regulations on methane pollution would have a significant, rapid impact on global warming. These new rules could be a historic moment of climate action.
Environment America looks forward developing a final rule that reduces methane emissions and protects the environment.
