Herbert Smith Freehills has chosen Clayton Utz, an Australian corporation, as a Brisbane-based realty partnership.
HSF will welcome Kathryn Pacey (who led Clayton Utz’s Australian environment planning and team) from February.
She is an expert in environmental assessments, major project approvals and compliance, planning litigation and regulatory matters. She has extensive experience in conducting investigations and assisting clients with environmental issues arising out of M&A transactions.

She is a standout when it comes to her projects as well as regulatory legislative advisory work. Her ability to manage both front-end and backend matters sets her apart in this market, allowing her to advise clients throughout the project lifecycle.
Pacey will collaborate with the national resources and mining, projects/infrastructure and real estate groups as they help clients to navigate increasingly complex environment and planning matters, Sinn said.

In January, HSF legal manager Derek Chia left to join Allen & Overys latest legal service delivery centre in Perth, while an 18-lawyer team left DLA Piper for local New Zealand outfit Wotton + Kearney earlier this week.
