PANAJI: Rahul Gandhi, Congress leader, said that unemployment is a major issue. However, for places like Goa the environment issue is also important. Gandhi stated that the Congress will resist the Linear projects and won’t allow Goa to become a coal hub during a Friday media interaction.
We won’t allow Goa to be a coal hub, as it is not in our state’s interest. The Congress Party opposes the three linear projects. We will not support the idea that projects can be created, just as we opposed farm laws. Gandhi stated that we will not allow them to occur, adding that some may feel it will happen when the projects are being determined by the Central government.
He stated that the Congress government will concentrate on making Goa an IT and knowledge hub so that young Goans can find jobs in the IT industry.
“We will allow legal and sustainable mining. This will create a lot of jobs in Goa. Goa’s tourism is a major asset. “I’ve spoken with different stakeholders in the tourism sector and I have a plan for completely revitalizing the tourism industry,” Gandhi replied to a question about how his party would create job opportunities.
