Environment Canada issued an extreme freeze warning Monday afternoon for most of Saskatchewan.
Only the southwest corner of the province is not affected by the extreme cold warning.
Environment Canada described the statement as a multiday episode of very cold winds chills.
The cold arctic air mass has moved over the southern part of the province, causing the temperatures to rise.
Saskatchewan Monday night will see wind chills as high as -40 to 45 degrees. Conditions are expected to continue until mid-week.
Environment Canada reminded residents that extreme cold can put everyone at risk. It also warned that conditions like frostbite and hypothermia will be more common during this cold spell.
Environment Canada asks residents of the province to report severe weather by sending an email to [email protected], or tweeting reports using #SKStorm
As arctic weather settles into the province, expect a cold few days. Tonight’s wind chills will reach the -40s and will continue through the week. Keep warm and be aware of any signs or symptoms of cold-related illness. @CTVRegina #SaskWX pic.twitter.com/gQPke3dh19
