Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Tuesday that it was necessary to accelerate environmentally-friendly projects. He also stated that India has set a goal of zero carbon emissions by 2070.
PM Modi requested financial institutions to develop innovative and future-oriented financing options as well as risk management strategies to finance the emerging economic needs.
PM Modi stated that green financing was the “need of the hour” to reach net-zero carbon emission target by 2070. He also said that financial assistance should be extended for environmentally-friendly projects.
PM Modi spoke at a webinar on Financing growth and aspirational economies after the budget. He stated that India has set a goal of zero carbon emissions by 2070. It is necessary to accelerate environmentally-friendly projects in order to speed up the process.
Modi spoke in a webinar post-Budget on ‘Financing to grow and aspirational economy’.
He also stressed the importance of identifying 8-10 sectors where India can be amongst the top-3 globally, and asked financial institutions for credit support.
PM Modi also asked the bureaucrats not to hesitate to propose ‘actionable’ solutions to implement the 2022/23 Union Budget proposals.
He stated that the country is investing heavily on health infrastructure and asked banks if they would consider prioritising credit to the sector.
PM Modi also stated that banks should prioritize exporters when extending funding. This will help the Atma Nirbhar Bharata programme.
