Cecilia Butini

The company announced Thursday that Bayer AG will sell its environmental science business to Cinven, a private equity firm for $2.6 billion.

The business is called Environmental Science Professional and is part Bayer’s agricultural division. It focuses on pest control in non-agricultural settings such as forestry.

Rodrigo Santos is the head of Bayer’s Crop Science division. He stated that the divestment will allow Bayer to concentrate on its core agricultural business as well as the implementation of its growth strategy.
