This task is particularly difficult for small and dense Singapore, as it has no natural hinterland that can absorb the city’s emissions.
Solutions will need to address all aspects of the built environment, from data centres that consume large amounts of power to waterworks and old buildings, which make up the bulk of Singapore’s infrastructure.
It’s important to plan it properly. Climate mitigation features can also be used to protect city dwellers from the impacts of global warming. These include sea-level rise, fluctuations in rainfall, and temperatures that could cause cities to become too hot or submerged.
