BC: More snow, more cold

Environment Canada has advised British Columbia residents that extreme cold and snow are likely to return to some areas of the province.
Snow storms are expected to continue for parts of southern B.C.
Highway alertsHighway 5, the Coquihalla, is open from Hope-Merritt, Highway 3 from Hope-Princeton, and Highway 1 through Rogers Pass.
Highway 3 from Paulson Summit up to Kootenay Pass is expected to receive between 40-60 cm of powder each day.
According to the weather bureau, the Fraser Canyon, Lyton and Merritt will see snow accumulations of up to 50cm. Snow could also be seen on the Coquihalla Highway linking Hope and Merritt.
An extreme cold warnings has been issued for northeastern B.C. overnight.
According to the weather office, this will bring wind chill values below 45 degrees that will last until the end of next week.
Environment Canada has issued an East Vancouver Island wind warning, citing winds of up to 90 km/h which “may cause damage”.
It is predicted that there will be a prolonged period with very cold wind in Fort Nelson, with wind chill values as low as minus 45. This will continue into next week.
