B.C. to get more snow and extreme cold: Environment Canada

VANCOUVER, BC – Environment Canada has advised British Columbia residents that extreme cold is likely to return to northeastern B.C. overnight.

According to the weather bureau, this will bring windchill values of minus 45 which will continue until the end the week.

Snowstorms are expected to continue, with Highway 3 from Paulson Summit towards Kootenay Pass forecasted as receiving between 40-60 cm of snow throughout the day.

According to the weather bureau, the Fraser Canyon, Lyton and Merritt will see snow accumulations of up to 50cm. Snow could also be seen on the Coquihalla Highway linking Hope and Merritt.

Environment Canada has issued an East Vancouver Island wind warning, citing gusts up to 90 km/h that could cause damage.

It is predicted that there will be a prolonged period with very cold wind in Fort Nelson, with wind chill values as low as minus 45. This will continue into next week.
