The Community Connect program has been used by health systems to extend Epic instances to nearby medical organizations. They have access to Epic software without having to hire support staff or buy infrastructure. Epic Connect is recommended to medical groups by Epic because it creates shared patient records and allows for nearly 40,000 providers to use the software. Garden Plot is a way for groups to connect with Epic directly when Connect isn’t an option.
