Jammu:

Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor Manoj Sinha said Sunday that his administration will create an interactive environment for educational institutions as they reopen in a gradual manner amid a decrease in COVID-19 cases.

He spoke at the current episode of “Awaam Ki Awaaz”, which he dedicated for the young people of the Union territory. The radio program was broadcast on DD Kashir and was aired on all primary and local channels of All India Radio (AIR).

Sinha stated that education and health are the most important responsibilities of the administration. He also said that while last year it had to prioritize health, this year, Sinha believes that with declining Covid cases, opening schools and creating happiness zones, the administration hopes to create an interactive environment in educational institutions that is missing in online classes.

Jammu division’s government schools have created happiness zones, which offer safe and psychologically comfortable spaces inside school buildings for students to talk about their feelings in a confidential way.

Responding to a caller’s suggestion, the LG stated that the administration understood the need to provide psycho-social support for students and is making positive steps in this direction.

He responded to a suggestion regarding steps to be taken to create a drug-free J&K. He stated that the government is fully committed toward strengthening the action framework and taking firm stance against drug abuse. Sinha stated that he wants every citizen to have equal opportunities to grow and to have reasonable and affordable access for basic amenities.

He also encouraged people to work for the improvement of society. “We must strengthen our faith in humanity’s goodness and encourage everyone to live a virtuous lifestyle. Let us all pledge today to follow the path equality and social harmony and build a J&K that all sections of society contribute in shaping the future for this beautiful UT,” said the LG.

Also, callers offered suggestions regarding NCC’s expansion, the introduction of philosophy in post-graduation studies at Kashmir University; the development of Aharbal, an offbeat tourist destination with better facilities, financial literacy, and launching a special drive for financial services delivery.

Sinha gave instructions to the officials to address these issues and to incorporate these insights into their policies. He also appreciated the suggestion of using the PPP model to bridge the digital divide and create an environment that encourages digital inclusion.

He stated that he had decided to launch “digital Jammu & Kashmir” in order to fulfill the prime minister’s resolve to make all villages digitally literate. Under this campaign, the administration will work towards digital literacy and services over the next few days.
