Will Focus On Providing Gender-Sensitive Environment, Implementation Of NEP: New JNU Vice-Chancellor

On Monday, Santishree Dhulipudi Pandit, the Minister of Education, was promoted to the top job.

New Delhi:

Santishree Dhulipudi Pandit has been appointed JNU Vice Chancellor. She was the first woman to be elected to this post. She was appointed by the Ministry of Education (MoE), to the top job on Monday.

She is currently a Professor of Political Science at Savitribai Phule University Maharashtra. The 59-year old is also an Alumna of JNU, where she completed her MPhil and PhD in International Relations.





She stated in a statement that she was vice-chancellor at JNU and thanked both the Hon’ble Premier Minister and Minister for Higher Education for giving me the opportunity to be the first woman and alumnus from this esteemed University located in Tamil Nadu.

Pandit said that she is excited to work with students and faculty. The immediate goal of this administration is to provide an environment conducive to academic excellence, clean administration and that is gender-sensitive and student-friendly. We would work to implement NEP 2020, the vision of our Honourable Prime Minister, especially in multi-disciplinary and inter-disciplinary areas of study, JNU rising up to greater heights in academics and research. “The focus would be on building Indo-centric narratives,” she stated.

M Jagadesh Kumar was appointed last week as the chairman UGC. He was currently acting VC at JNU.
