Al-Fadhli inaugurates Environment Week in Riyadh

RIYADH The Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Eng. Abdulrahman Bin Abdulmohsen Al-Fadhli inaugurates the activities and exhibitions of the Environment Week in Riyadh on Sunday. This week’s slogan is “Our Environment Is Our Responsibility”. It aims to raise awareness about the importance for protecting the environment.

The exhibition will promote environmental culture, consolidate quality-of-life goals, activate the role institutions and different government agencies in conserving the environment, increase the responsibility of individuals and maintain environmental balance as per Vision 2030.

This year’s event will include activities in 21 cities and regions in the Kingdom. The Ministry will organize field activities and awareness-raising interactive pavilions. These pavilions will feature various events, including workshops and theatrical performances, to introduce visitors the various environmental components in different regions of the Kingdom.

The ministry hopes to strengthen community relationships with various sectors through these events, including the regions and ministries and their various branch, public and privately-funded universities, private sector companies, non-profit sectors, and public and private universities.

The Ministry plans to host activities and events throughout the week. This year, the Ministry’s events will vary in different regions. Riyadh, the capital, will host the most notable events through a large interactive exhibition lasting seven days. Eng. Al-Fadhli at “The Arena” (Granada Square).

The exhibition will focus on several pillars: vegetation cover, combating droughtification, wild and maritime wildlife, environment explorer and waste management. It will also highlight environmental protection, awareness-raising activities and activities for children.

The launch of the “Environment Hackathon”, an event that brings together experts, officials, and stakeholders in the environment sector, will be part of this year’s activities.

They will meet to discuss the latest trends, challenges, opportunities and priorities for developing the environment sector. The event will include participation by professionals and amateurs in digital solutions, emerging, and modern technologies. Follow-up from the Ministry via the link http://hackathon.mewa.gov.sa.

The Environment Week represents the Kingdom’s efforts towards achieving its 2030 environmental vision.

This will increase environmental awareness in all sectors of society. Social responsibility will be reinforced by highlighting the Environment Week, an annual national event that is observed by individuals and groups with different expertise. SPA
