Annual Event: Helping the Environment

LONG BEACH NY You can give back this weekend to the community.

The Surfrider Foundation will hold its 9th Annual Canal Area Cleanup on Saturday morning.

Participants will meet at the corner East Chester Street and Heron Street.

The city posted that people will have the chance to collect trash in the canals and gather on the streets of their neighborhood to pick up the debris before it reaches waterways during the two-hour event.

It will take place between 10 a.m. and noon.

Although cleaning supplies will be available, anyone who wants to deal directly with the water should bring their own equipment.
