TEHRAN The Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Al-Khamenei stressed Sunday the need to develop nonfossil energy sources, including renewables, as well as expand activities to protect and preserve the environment.
He explained that the destruction of forests, the environment, and vegetation is equivalent in nature to the degradation and degrading of national interests. The depletion of a portion of the forests for construction is, except in emergency situations, definitely to the detriment and detriment of the country.
He made these remarks at the National Tree Planting Day, which was celebrated annually on the fifteenth day Esfand, the final month of the Iranian calendar. The National Week of Natural Resources begins on this day.
The environment protection is not an easy task. It is crucial to protect water and soil as well as their vital reserves. Authorities must consider the views of experts when making this decision.
The Leader stated that national interests will be harmed if there is inattention to “wildlife conservation”. He also noted that Islam allows hunting only if the animal (human) is hungry. Hunting trips are prohibited in Islam. Therefore, we must take action to stop illegal hunting and pay attention to wildlife conservation.
He stressed the need to develop clean energies and said that it was important to consider the development of non-fossil fuels such as nuclear energy. This is an increasingly used energy in the world, and many countries in the region are moving towards it.
The Leader also urged people to plant and preserve trees, noting that this important work requires national support. Tree planting is one of the ways to prevent the loss of forests in and around cities by increasing the vegetation cover.
Ayatollah Khmenei planted two fruit trees saplings to commemorate the occasion.
