Baylor wins 68-61 over Texas to win Bears| Baylor

The Bears then made two big defensive plays. Jeremy Sochan stripped Christian Bishop of the ball, and Flo Thamba prevented Timmy Allens shot in paint.

Akinjo made two free throws to bring Baylors’ lead to 63-54, with 1:53 remaining.

The Longhorns led for most of the first period in their last home match before moving into the new Moody Center next autumn.

At halftime, the Bears were trailing 30-27. Allen hit a jumper and drew a foul. The free throw gave Allen three points.

Flagler took control of the game by making his three next 3-pointers from the foul line to give the Bears an advantage of 46-44 with 13 minutes remaining.

Kendall Brown, who had scored 12 points in the first half, was fouled with 11:45 left. With 10:16 left, Flagler missed another outside shot and Akinjo made a free throw after a Matthew Mayer steal. Baylor was now 49-45 ahead.

Baylor was leading 52-47 with 9 minutes remaining when Akinjo’s three-pointer gave them a lead of 52-47. Allen fouled Thamba during the play. Thamba missed his free throw in a one and one situation.

With a pair of Bishop baskets painted in the paint, the Longhorns started to rebound.

From the beginning tipoff, it was a defensive battle. After scoring four of their first 14 shots, Bears finished the first half with seven of 11 field goals. They were trailing 30-27 at halftime.
