Bob Evans’s Attempt to Protect the Environment

In 1986, he retired from the food industry. (viaOhio History Central) Bob Evans chose to involve himself in the promotion of sustainable, environmentally-friendly farming techniques, and, according to BobEvans.comHe encouraged young people to have the same respect for the environment as he did. In keeping with his wishes Bob Evans formed a partnership with National Future Farmers of America Organization and introduced Supervised Agricultural Experience grants to high school students. He was also involved in encouraging livestock farmers towards more efficient and earth-friendly grazing practices.

The Bob Evans FarmsToday, the company states that it is focused on “constantly improving sustainability and reducing environmental impact at our manufacturing plants, transportation center and corporate campus”. This is done by instituting standards and practices that reduce electrical power and natural gases. The company also donates food to local harvest programs, recyles, and designates organic material for composting.

Bob Evans was a farmer. He was also a restaurateur. He was also an environmentalist. The restaurant proudly serves free meals to active-duty military and vets. Veterans DayAs a hats-off to the visionary founder of the company, and to all those who have served, Evans’ dedication to the environment and his service to his country make him an inspirational figure.
