Financial Conduct Authority Chair
“The FCA is an independent regulator with the strategic objective of ensuring that the UKs financial markets function well. The FCA regulates over 51,000 businesses and will consider whether they comply with prudential standards to reduce the risk to consumers and the industry in the event of failure. The FCAs operational objectives are to: protect and enhance the integrity of the UK financial system; secure an appropriate degree of protection for consumers; and promote effective competition in the interests of consumers.”

Department for Work and Pensions Ombudsman for Pensions
“The Pensions Ombudsman investigates and determines complaints and disputes about the way that occupational and personal pension schemes are run. The Pension Protection Fund Ombudsman reviews decisions made by the Pension Protection Fund Board (PPF Board) under the PPFs internal processes and decides on appeals against decisions of the Department for Work and Pensions(DWP) Financial Assistance Scheme. The roles are separated in legislation but they are each held by one person. This document will use the term Ombudsman to refer to both of these roles. The Ombudsman is supported by an organisation, known as The Pensions Ombudsman (TPO).”

Bank of England Chair of the Court
“The Bank of England is the central bank of the United Kingdom. The Bank’s governing board is the Court of Directors. It includes the Banks Governor, four Deputy Governors and up to nine non-executive Directors. Court is responsible for the Bank’s affairs. It has the responsibility of determining the Banks strategy and objectives, as well as for overseeing the Banks performance, and the effective discharge of its statutory or other objectives. The non-executive members can observe the meetings of the Bank’s main policy committees, including the Monetary Policy Committee (Financial Policy Committee), the Monetary Policy Committee (Financial Policy Committee) and the Prudential Regulation Committee. This is an important role during times of continual change in Bank functions. Working closely with the Governor, the Chair is key to the Banks governance and the life of the Bank more broadly.”

Home Office Members of the Investigatory Forces Tribunal
“The IPT has a UK-wide jurisdiction. The President of the IPT in the UK is Lord Justice Singh. Lord Boyd of Duncansby is the Vice-President. We are seeking distinguished lawyers who can apply their expertise to the IPT work. The successful candidates will have significant experience in the law at a high level, be familiar in Administrative Law, and have a sufficient understanding or knowledge of RIPA, Intelligence Services Act 1993, the Human Rights Act 1998, and the recent judgment of Grand Chamber of European Court of Human Rights in Big brother Watch & Ors. Judicial experience will be an advantage.”
