Chris Carran: Ill prioritize locals, infrastructure and the environment

Chris Carran

I am a Silverthorne resident and a business owner.

In 2020, I worked together with Silverthorne’s town and many vendors to raise enough funds to purchase HEPA air purifiers in Silverthorne Elementary classrooms.

I helped the Family & Intercultural Resource Center food pantry with a $500 weekly budget at U.S. Foods to order fresh milk and produce to provide nutritious meals for families in crisis that summer.

In 2018, 2019, and 2021, I collaborated with Silverthorne to host the Locals Appreciation Partie. It is an annual First Friday event which raises money for local nonprofits. Summit Community Care Clinic and Shaw Cancer Center are among the non-profit beneficiaries. Bristlecone Hospital Services, Bristlecone Musicians Relief Fund, Domus Pacis Lake Dillon Preschool, Friends of the Dillon Ranger District, Building Hope Summit County, Family & Intercultural Resource Center, Building Hope Summit County, Bristlecone Medical Services, BristleconeHealth Services, Building Hope Summit County, Bristlecone, Bristlecone, Summit Musicians Relief Fund, Bristlecone Preschool, Lake Dillon Preschool, Lake Dillon Ranger District, Family & Intercultural Resource Center for the Dillon Ranger District, Friends of the Dillon Ranger District, Friends of the Dillon Ranger District.

Locals Liquors also produces a Companion Ale each year. All proceeds from the sale go to local nonprofits that benefit animals. Silverthorne Veterinary Hospital has been a beneficiary to pay for the services of indigent pet owners, Summit Lost Pet Rescue, Colorado Rapid Avalanche Deployments Wonderpup and other medical funds.

As a Silverthorne resident, I see this as an important time. We are experiencing unprecedented growth. The infrastructure is being strained by second-home ownership and short term rentals. This makes it difficult to find affordable housing for rent or sales. As the community becomes less affordable, we are seeing a rise in the demand for employees. The lack of affordable housing and high costs of child care make it difficult to live and do business in the area. We need to ensure the safety of our county’s workers. As an employer, I know the costs and challenges of keeping good employees.

We must provide a place for people to live, work, and raise their families. Our community will die if we allow unchecked growth. As a member on the Town Council, I will be able to share my knowledge of the challenges involved in raising a family and running your business in Silverthorne or Summit County.

I have the experience of starting and growing small businesses and working for large corporations. As our town grows, so do I. I know how important it is to work with the public and private sector. I also know how important it is to listen to all stakeholders before making any decisions.

Priority No. Priority No.

I am committed to protecting the working class as well as the families that make this community. I will work to ensure that Silverthorne’s residents and families, both current and future, have the opportunity to prosper and grow as the town grows.

Priority No. 2: Infrastructure

I will be focusing on maintaining and providing infrastructure, both structural and social, that can handle current needs as well as future growth.

Priority No. 3: Environment

As our town grows, so will I work to maintain the delicate balance between nature and humans.
