Colorado is not great for “work-from-home” due to its poor ‘living environment. Data shows

People seemed to be flocking towards Colorado at the beginning of the pandemic to take advantage the work-from home situation and to be close to an outdoor escape. Recent data has shown that Colorado may not be the ideal place to work from home as people had hoped.

April 2022 WalletHubThe analysis included a comparison of all 50 states and DC to see how they do when it comes working from home. It looked at two main criteria: ‘work environment’, and ‘living environment. Colorado ranked an unimpressive 29th overall.

While Colorado was ranked high in the ‘work environment’ metrics (10th), it did not rank well when it comes to living environment’, ranking 45th.

Living environment criteria did not include entertainment options such as outdoor reaction. Instead, they focused on data like the average person per household, number and price of homes with swimming pools, and access internet at a low price.

Colorado had the 2nd highest number pre-pandemic of work-from home employees. However, it was also revealed that the state is now 47th in cybersecurity and 49th for potential telecommuters.

The same data analysis ranked Colorado 12th nationally when it came to working remotely in 2021. They also ranked the state 1st in ‘work environment’ metrics. The state’s overall ranking was down by 47th in the ‘living environments’ rank. Although Colorado’s work environment’ rank dropped nine spots year-over–year, its ‘living environment’ rank rose by two.

This analysis ignores a key category data that is likely to explain why so many Americans would like to work remotely in Colorado with easy access to nature. It is possible that Colorado’s ranking would have been improved if data points were included that touched on the state’s many wonderful trails and parks.

Finding a remote work location is key to living the life you want. Colorado is the place to be for many.

New Jersey was the best state to do remote work. Alaska was the worst.

This ranking methodology is detailed. Here.
