Core Lithium Ltd. (ASX:CXO), has been granted environmental approval at the Northern Territorys Minister of Environment for BP33 Underground Mine atFinniss LithiumProject. This opens the door to the next round of development approvals.
Cores Finniss Project approved BP33, and Grants open pit mining began in late 2013.
As the final stage of the permitting process for BP33, the company will submit a mine management program (MMP), to the Department of Industry, Tourism & Trade.
Another exciting milestone
Stephen Biggins, Core Lithium managing Director, stated that another important milestone in the development and operation of the Finniss Lithium Project was the granting of environmental approval for BP33 Underground Mine.
The BP33 Underground mine is the second approved mine at Finniss, with mining at Grants beginning in late 2021.
Grants is a lower-grade orebody than BP33. Recent deep drilling supports the idea that BP33 mineralisation improves with depth.
Activities at the Finniss Lithium Mine are on track, with the first ore expected to be on board ship by the end of the year.
According to Eva Lawler (Labor Government Minister for Environment), the Northern Territory Government seems eager to negotiate with Core Lithium.
Minister Lawler stated that in 2020, the Territory Labor Governments had reformed their environment protection legislation. This provided Territorians with a more effective environmental regulatory regime.
This Environmental Approval was granted after a thorough assessment by the NT EPA (Environment Protection Authority). It is the second EP Act approval and the first for a mine.
We will continue to work closely with Core Lithium to ensure the best results.
