Did The Simpsons Just Mock Eternals Environmental Message?

The Simpsons had a preachy movie about environmentalalism that was made in Chlo by Zhao. But, the joke was meant to mock the MCU’s Eternals?

One episode The SimpsonsSeason 33 featured a pointed jab at director Chlo Zhao. The joke seemed to parody Zhao’s MCU entry about the environment. Eternals. The SimpsonsIn season 33, they have not been shy about mocking popular movies and shows. The series parodies obscure horror movies, cancelculture, Netflix, and even more. In Meat Is Murder (season33, episode 21). The SimpsonsThis trend was continued by an episode-long spoof Succession. Grampa and Lisa teamed up for the outing, as Grampa joined a board of directors for a large corporation owned by Gus Redfield, his old associate. Grampa and Lisa found out that Guss’ family was plotting to remove him once he was on the board.

Guss’s daughter Sheila decided to make a movie in an effort to impress Lisa. Sheila hoped to convince Lisa to make Grampa go along with Shelia in a vote for no confidence against Gus. Like the classic SimpsonsOutingstarring Blinky, the mutated fishSheila’s unnamed movie contains a clear message about the dangers of neglecting pollution’s effects on the environment. The opus is a collection of singing trees lecturing the viewers about lowering greenhouse gas emission. Lisa praises it as Moving and didacticSheila later admitted that she didn’t direct the event, but Chlo Zhou did. Since EternalsThe joke featured a plot point that was centered on global heating. It felt like a mockery to the MCU movies environmentalist message.

Ironically, EternalsHe was criticised for absolving humanity (within the MCU at least) of any responsibility for climate changes. However, the fact that EternalsReferring to melting polar glaciers as the reason for the Deviant’s awakening, meant thatThe SimpsonsIt seemed that the gag was directed at Zhao’s attempt to integrate a meaningful message into a blockbuster and the MCU movie. The fact is that EternalsClimate change implied was not man-madeIt didn’t stop The SimpsonsName-checking Zhao and the fact that the MCU movie even mentioned the phenomenon might have been what prompted the writers to include this gag.


Zhao’s explicit political statements are more striking. NomadlandBefore EternalsCould be where The SimpsonsThis led to the belief that her work was preachy and focused on real-life problems. The SimpsonsThe director may have been chosen because she is a well known blockbuster helmer. EternalsParticularly (especially when there are many other blockbusters like AvatarThe climate change issue should be addressed in a similar overt manner. Finally, like The SimpsonsBorrow one South ParkSeason 25 jokesThe gags connection to EternalsIf the episode was written before the movie was released, it could be a coincidence. Whatever the reason, however, The SimpsonsIt seemed to be spoof EternalsThe movie attempts to combine real-life issues and blockbuster movie-making.
