Donation of vehicles to Environment Health

The Ministry of Health has received three vehicles for its Environmental Health Division from the World Bank through its OECS Regional Health Project donation. This week, the Ministry of Health has increased its ability to respond to public-health issues.

Ira Isaacs is the Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist for Health System Strengthening Project Ira Isaacs. He says that such a donation is vital as it will strengthen the unit’s operations, and also improve the lives and well-being of the Saint Lucian people.

Isaac explained that the initiative is designed to increase the Environmental Health Department’s ability to respond to the nation’s needs.

Jenny Daniel, Acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health, expressed her appreciation for the donation and how timely it was, especially considering the COVID-19 pandemic.

Daniel stated that this donation will help the Ministry and especially the Environmental Health Division to strengthen their ability, their capacity to monitor, enforce our protocols for COVID-19, as well as any future protocols or regulations that may be triggered by any new contagious diseases, vectors, or other health problems.

Parker Ragnanan Chief Environmental Health Officer expressed his deep gratitude for these vehicles that will be used to address the needs of the public.

These vehicles will be a tremendous help in ensuring our officers can interact with the public, both public and private sector, and ensuring that environmental concerns are addressed promptly.

The total cost of the three donated vehicles is EC $361.400
