Edo restates commitment to improving business environment – Nigerian Observer

BENIN CITY – The Edo State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to providing an enabling environment for businesses to thrive, assuring local and foreign investors of the safety and security of their investments in the state.

Omololu Ojehomon was the Commissioner for Public Security and Safety. He gave the assurance at a technical session on ease-of-doing business in Edo State held at Benin City’s Government House.

Ojehomon noted that Governor Godwin Obaseki’s administration has pursued policies to improve the state’s business environment. He assured that the government will continue to make efforts to ensure that businesses thrive.

She stated that the Edo State Government has made sure that it provides a secure environment for its citizens, businesses and employees to stabilize the state’s economy. This will help to improve the daily lives of all Edo residents.

The President of the Benin Chamber of Commerce, Industry Mines and Agriculture, Mrs. Aina Ojeonu, reiterated her belief in the importance of ease of doing business for economic development of any society.

According to her, It’s the governments business to provide an enabling environment for businesses to thrive as the government really has no business doing business.

Hailing the government for the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Ossiomo Power Company to provide stable power and drive the states industrial sector, she added, Edo State has everything and it’s the gateway to Nigeria. Although the Edo State Government is doing a lot, it should engage more with the private sector. We are open to more advocacy that will ensure a better working environment.

Andrew Emwanta, the Commissioner for Communication and Orientation said that the government will continue to prioritize key infrastructure to make Edo safer, more productive, and ensure better livelihoods for the citizens and economic prosperity for state.

He mentioned that Governor Obaseki has made sure there is a steady electricity supply through Ossiomo Energy and that the land administration system is more efficient. This, among other things, will ensure a friendly environment for businesses and encourage investors.
