The United States’ largest industrial economy is located in the Gulf South, especially the communities of Louisiana. This group of customers has unique energy needs and their energy requirements are increasing, even with the new industry that is coming to Louisiana. A prosperous and sustainable future requires a policy that balances the future of the state and the region with the needs of this industry.
Gov. John Bel Edwards was recently released Climate Action PlanIt does exactly that. It focuses on increasing electrification of large industrial operations in the state with clean, renewable energy. This aligns with Entergy’s climate goals and our commitment to serving customers. Although we don’t agree with all of the methods described in the Climate Action Plan we understand that the administration recognizes the need for climate action at the national level.
Large industrial customers in our states set significant greenhouse gas emission reduction targets for their businesses. Using cleaner energy, including renewables to power their operations, helps them reach their goals. Entergy Louisiana’s recent collaboration with Sempra Infrastructure is a good example.
Many industrial customers have come to expect that the electricity they need to power their equipment, and other operations, is not only safe but also reliable.
Entergy is well-positioned for providing the abundant power that fuels our region’s growth. We offer power at rates lower than the national average and our power generation is among the cleanest large-scale power companies in America. Our customers benefit from this powerful combination of low rates, clean power, and a growing number of environmental goals.
Economic growth is driven by reliable, clean, and affordable power. This results in increased investment and well-paying jobs in clean energy. We look forward continuing to do our part in helping Louisiana thrive for the next generation.
