The Environment Agency is warning people that flooding is possible tomorrow morning.

9 Severe Flood Warnings have been issued by the Agency along the Wye and Severn due to the high probability of flooding. Severe Flood Warnings signify that there is a danger to life. Additional 20 Flood Warnings are also in effect.

Kay Champion Area Incident Manager at the Environment Agency said:

Storm Eunice, which is expected to arrive overnight on Thursday, could cause severe flooding. There will be overtopping of defenses, strong winds and high waves. Potential for record-breaking water levels in the Wye and Severn estuaries.

We are closely monitoring the situation, and we work closely with our partners. Our incident response personnel are reviewing defenses.

We urge everyone to be prepared by signing up for Flood Warnings. Follow the guidance provided by emergency services to ensure that they are in a safe area.

We strongly advise people to avoid the coast during storms as there is a risk to your life.

The Met Office has issued an advisory for Storm Eunice’s strong winds. This could result in a storm surge or flooding from large waves, potentially impacting communities in the Wye and Severn estuaries.

Flooding is possible starting at Sharpness and continuing up the River Severn to Gloucestershire and along Chepstow’s Wye. We urge people to be safe and warn wave watchers not to take stormselfies. High water levels are possible between 7:30 and 11:11 on Friday morning.
