Environment Canada Forecasts 50cm of Snow on the North Coast this Weekend

Although extreme cold warnings are beginning to subside, severe winter conditions are expected in the North for the rest of the year.

Winter storm watches will continue through the weekend for both the North Coast’s coastal and inland areas.

This applies to Terrace, Kitimat Bella Coola and Stewart. As much as 50cms of snow is forecast between tomorrow night and Sunday.

A arctic outflow alert, which has been affecting the same area, is still in force, meaning that windchill values could drop as low as the -30s.

Highway 16 and Highway 37 both will be slick with compact snow, ice and rain over the weekend. The falling snow will limit visibility.
