Environment Canada has issued an Extreme Cold Warning this morning

Environment Canada states that wind chill values ranging from minus 30 to 35 degrees Celsius are possible.

Extreme Cold Warning in Effect for:

  • Barrie – Collingwood – Hillsdale
  • Midland – Coldwater Lake – Orr Lake
  • Orillia-Lagoon City-Wasago

The region is covered by bitterly cold, arctic air.

Hazard:
Wind chill values between minus 30 and minus 35
Minimum temperatures are between minus 23 degrees Celsius and minus 32 degrees Celsius.

When:
Tonight into Friday morning.

Look out for symptoms such as chest pain, shortness of breath and muscle pain and weakness. Also, look out for numbness or colour changes in fingers and toes.

Cover up. Frostbite can form quickly on exposed skin, especially in the face of wind chill.

If it is too cold outside, it is too cold outside for your pet.

Pay attention to colour changes in fingers and toes, pain or tingling sensations, swelling, and numbness. If you feel the need to warm up, go indoors.
