Winter is just beginning.

Environment Canada has issued a special Weather Statement for Halton and the surrounding municipalities, which will have an impact on Monday morning commutes and beyond.

According to the weather agency, residents can expect a possible “wintry mix of precipitation” on Monday.

According to the agency’s website, light snow is expected to arrive Monday morning. The snow will continue for a few more hours with a few millimetres of accumulation before turning to freezing rain or freezing drizzle in afternoon.

The afternoon will see light freezing rain or freezing drizzle. According to the agency, precipitation will likely change to drizzle or cease overnight.

Frosty rain or freezing drizzle can cause icy surfaces to become untreated.
