ENVIRONMENT CANADA
*************************
Snow squall watch in force for:

  • Barrie – Collingwood – Hillsdale
  • Midland – Coldwater Lake – Orr Lake
  • Orillia-Lagoon City-Wasago

Expect snow squalls to develop. The snow squalls will cause visibility to be significantly reduced because of the heavy snow and blowing. Additionally, snow will quickly accumulate.

Hazard:
Snow and blowing snow can reduce visibility to nearly zero at times.
Snowfall amounts as high as 15 cm
Winds gusting up to 70 km/h

Timing:
Today through tonight

Discussion:
This morning and afternoon are expected to bring snow squalls, which will continue into tonight. Visibilities will be reduced to zero by strong northwest winds gusting up to 70 km/h at times. Conditions will improve by Sunday morning and late tonight.

Weather changes can make travel dangerous. Visibility could be reduced suddenly to almost zero. Road closures are possible.

Snow squall watch are issued when conditions favor the formation of snow bands that could produce intense accumulation snow or near zero visibility.

Keep an eye on Environment Canada’s forecasts and alerts. Send an email at [email protected] if you have concerns about severe weather.
