WEATHER ALERT
ENVIRONMENT CANADA
*************************
Winter storm warning in force for:

  • Niagara Falls – Welland – Southern Niagara Region
  • St. Catharines – Grimsby, Northern Niagara Region

Winter conditions can be dangerous.

Hazards:
Tonight is expected to bring snow accumulations of 20-30 cm.
Snowfall rates can reach up to 2 cm an hour at times.
Heavy snow causes reduced visibility

Timing:
All night long

Discussion:
The snow has slowed down in intensity since early this morning. However, snow will return to normal this afternoon and continue tonight.

You might consider delaying non-essential travel until the weather improves. The accumulation of snow can make it difficult to navigate surfaces such as roads, walkways, parking lots, and highways. The accumulation of snow can have a significant effect on urban rush hour traffic. Reduce visibility while driving and slow down. Be aware of tail lights ahead and be ready to stop.

Keep checking Environment Canada’s alerts and forecasts. Send an email at [email protected] if you have concerns about severe weather.
