Environment Canada reports that Toronto was saturated after hours of rain. However, the amounts were not significant.

Environment Canada has ended a Special Weather Statement for Toronto. However, the federal weather agency reported that less rain fell in Toronto than was expected on Tuesday.

According to David Rodgers (senior meteorologist for Environment Canada), 9.7 millimetres of rain had fallen in downtown Toronto by 10 p.m. and 10.5 millimetres on Toronto Island Airport.

According to the federal meteor agency, it was possible for Toronto to receive 15 to 25mm on Tuesday. Some regions could see 40 mmin due to thunderstorms.

Rodgers said that the thunderstorms forecast for Ontario stayed south of Ontario and that the rainfall amounts weren’t significant. Toronto is expected to see 10 to 15mm of rainfall.

“There was a weather forecast, but we didn’t get any special conditions,” he stated. “The significant weather that we had been forecasting didn’t happen.”

Windsor had received close to 20mm of rain by 10 p.m. He also said that Windsor was the most logged province.

Rain started to fall at Toronto’s Pearson International Airport around 1:20 p.m. It was still raining by 10 p.m. Showers were expected to be brief overnight.
